Some of the things people are saying about David Miller’s new book:
After the war came the Victory.

The books starts with World War One and the 150 men from Thorner and Scarcroft went to fight. One in four of them didn’t come back. For the British army as a whole, the chances of death were nearer one in nine.

Meanwhile, back in Thorner plans were being made to mark the conflict by building a new, large village hall. But finding a suitable site and raising the money wasn’t easy and it was April 1924 before the hall was opened.

The story of the Victory Hall is brought right up to date with the recent renovations and features on the comedy, beer and fireworks festival that helped pay for them.
